San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo Commits $12 Million to Educate Texas Youth
SAN ANTONIO – At the Annual Life Membership Meeting this evening, the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo revealed its annual educational commitment of $12 million to help students achieve their educational goals.A total of over $198 million has been committed to educate Texas youth since inception.
Executive Director & CEO Keith Martin said, “Generating funds for the youth of Texas is at the core of our organization and our mission. Our over 6,000 volunteers work tirelessly year round to help drive our mission and as a result, we are able to make this educational commitment. We are grateful to our community and visitors alike that support our great event and are very proud to do all that we can to educate new generations of Texans.”
More than 9,100 Texas college students have benefitted from a San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo Scholarship. Approximately 1,500 active scholars attend Texas colleges and universities today. The funds are raised through events as well as the annual Stock Show & Rodeo and are awarded in the form of scholarships, grants, endowments, junior livestock auctions, student western art auction, calf scramble program and show premiums.
“The scholarship I received from the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo has given me so many opportunities. Recently accepted to the College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences at Texas A & M University, I am able to see my dreams of becoming a veterinarian come to fruition. I am so grateful for the scholarship and cannot thank you all enough for what you do for thousands of students throughout the state,” said Miss Rodeo Texas Tianti Carter.
The 2019 San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo will be held February 7th – 24th at the Freeman Coliseum/AT&T Center grounds.
